Thumping-or Tapping- is an ancient Taoist technique; used often in Qigong, Somatic work and Energy work.

Why is it so widely used? you may ask.

Well, firstly it takes you out of your head and back into your body ( through touch)

Secondly, in TCM, it is believed that your thoughts and emotions get stuck in your body, not your mind.

And so, thumping/tapping, literally moves them out. The vibration causes a ripple effect which gains momentum as it ripples throughout your body; moving and pushing out any blockage or stagnation in its way.

 

There are 5 thumps in today's video.

1. Acupoint Stomach #2- Right on the eyebone underneath the pupil of the eye. Be gentle here because this area is sensitive.

2. Acupoint Kidney #27- Under the clavicle on either side of the large round bone, there is a little indent, this is where you tap quite vigorously, remember we want to eradicate stress and drive it out for good!

3. The Thymus Gland- Located in the middle of the sternum. This may be sensitive, if you're a person who has chronically held onto a lot of stress. If it feels uncomfortable or painful, please stop thumping and start massaging. gently.

4. The Spleen Meridian- Tapping down the spleen meridian, starting from just underneath the breasts, right where your obliques are, all the way down to the groin area.

5. The Groin Area-Turn your hands into fists and thump rhythmically on the groin area releasing stagnation in the lymph. Our lymph helps take out the trash, our physical, mental and emotional trash, ALL OF IT.

Please keep in mind that when doing an exercise it must feel comfortable-IF IT DOESN'T PLEASE DON'T FORCE IT. YOU WILL ONLY CREATE MORE STRESS FOR YOURSELF. 

Feel free to repeat this one-minute exercise throughout the day whenever you feel stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated or carry any heavy emotion.

I've been helping clients for over 10 years and have found that this is the MOST EFFECTIVE APPROACH to releasing stress and unprocessed emotions.
